Join BC teacher and author Adrienne Gear as she leads students in a poetry writing workshop. 

Adrienne will begin with a brief introduction to poetry:  what a poem looks like, sounds like, makes us think about and makes us feel. Using the theme of gratitude, she will model how to plan and write a “gratitude poem”. 

In honour of Earth Day, students will be encouraged to use their “poet’s eyes” to write their own gratitude poem connected to something in nature. 

Following this event, students will be invited to submit their Earth Day Gratitude Poems to be featured in Simbi’s Global Library to be enjoyed by children around the world!

About the Presenter: Adrienne Gear is a teacher, author, workshop presenter, and Simbi’s Chief Learning Officer. Adrienne has more than 25 years of elementary classroom experience and is passionate about literacy, learning, and children’s literature. Adrienne’s newest book, Powerful Poetry, celebrates the beauty, power, and pleasure of poetry in the classroom.
